DR. CAROLYN BARSHALL

MBBS MRCGP DRGOG DA LFHom

Dr Carolyn Barshall was born and trained in Australia and moved to London in 1989. She studied medicine at The University of Adelaide and then achieved several post-graduate qualifications in the UK: Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners; Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology; College of Anaesthetists part 1 exam; and a Diploma in Homeopathy.

As a family GP for 28 years and mother of two daughters, Dr Barshall draws on her extensive experience and knowledge at the Chelsea General Practice. She enjoys all aspects of Family Practice and takes a special interest in adolescent wellbeing, health screening for men & women, and in managing the menopause with 'body identical hormones' - a more modern approach to HRT. Dr Barshall also takes a keen interest in assessing and supporting those with mental health issues including anxiety and depression.

An active member of the IDF (Independent Doctors Federation), she enjoys attending regular postgraduate meetings. Dr Barshall is also a member of the Young Doctors Group of private GP’s who meet monthly and a member of Supervision Group with other GP’s, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and psychologists who meet quarterly.

Dr Barshall refers to consultants from all the leading independent Hospitals in England and has also established strong international links, with an extensive network of contacts in other major cities around the world so that she can facilitate care for patients who travel and work overseas.

Consultations & Referrals

  • Video and telephone consultations are charged at the same rate as face-to-face appointments and according to the time taken and the work generated.

  • Telephone advice and email advice will usually incur a charge unless it is related directly to a recent consultation. This will be at the doctors’ discretion.

  • Referrals to specialists are not usually made without an appointment with your GP. A referral that is made without an appointment will incur a charge.

  • Please note that there are additional fees for laboratory tests, vaccinations, medications and dressings.

  • Patients who are being prescribed regular medication are required to consult with their doctor at least once a year for a medication review. Without this review, we are unable to continue to prescribe.

  • Failing to attend an appointment or cancelling at late notice (less than 24 hours before your appointment time) will incur the full consultation cost. The fee will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis if the individual circumstances show the late cancellation was unavoidable.
